Strategy vs Tactics

Image
Tactics and Strategy  are often ignored or not discussed as if it really means anything. But while the two words may be glossed over, they mean different things, especially in Marketing. And without a doubt, the distinction is crucial.  The S trategy   is the direction towards the goal.   Tactics   are the action taken to support the strategy. Strategy refers to the plan to achieve a goal while the Tactic is how you execute the plan. Marketing is the action a business takes to create eyeballs, attention, and awareness. When creating your Marketing or Business Plan, Strategic Marketing comes first because it deals with the big picture of what is appropriate and what, where, why, who, and how. It is a long-term goal that is broad. THEN, the Tactical planning consists of the actual process involved in growing your business, increasing revenue and profits, and improving your competitive position. Strategic Marketing and Tactical Marketing are not in oppo...

Work To Your Strengths

Image
“Work To Your Strengths” ( one of my approaches ) We need to get honest and mark the spot where you stand today. Think of that very important little red arrow on the map that says, “You are Here”. I would do a complete and harsh inventory of your strengths and weaknesses. Then draw these back to how they relate to your competition .     Here are some great areas to start in your business:   How do you currently generate revenue (HINT: you’ll have 3 or less revenue-generating activities and you’re not spending enough time on any of them) How do you go about generating "leads" ... And nurture them ...   Create a list of personal and business “assets" Character, experience, expertise, contacts, and knowledge.   Clearly define your Market-Dominating Position If you don't know what this means, you better contact me like yesterday. It's how you differentiate, and how you provide tremendous value. What businesses benefit when you succeed...

How Are You Different From The Rest

Image
Do You Have A Message So Compelling It Practically Forces Your Prospects to Buy?   You are at the store waiting in line and you strike up a conversation with the person next to you. They ask you "what do you do?" Most people respond by saying “I'm an Attorney”, “I'm a Consultant” or “I'm a Jeweler” or "I'm a Real Estate Agent". Not very compelling is it. Most Business Owners just tell people exactly what they do … not knowing that it is usually the wrong thing to say if you want to peak someone's interest. And that is where a very good Compelling Message comes into play. Or, a very effective Elevator Pitch.   What you need to know … Knowing the right way to position what you do can be the difference between a highly successful business and a mediocre one.   Why you need to know this … The truth is this. No one cares who you are or what you do. They only care about themselves, and what's important to them. The key is to...

Boost Your Marketing, Advertising, And Sales Outreach Strategy

Image
4 Best Practices to Boost Your Sales Outreach Strategy Success   Effective sales outreach is an essential part of the sales process, and more than likely if you’re a Sales Professional, you’re involved in some sort of sales outreach. When people think of sales outreach, they often think of cold calling, but it’s become much more than just picking up a phone. The introduction of email really changed the "cold call".  The challenge is that people are smarter than they used to be; email response rates have rapidly decreased over the years as people no longer respond well to the cold, hard sell. However, other forms of outreach are on the rise, such as text messaging , digital advertising , social media , and more. Sales outreach is the best way to maintain a steady flow of warm leads. And with the right outreach strategy , Sales Professionals can deliver quality leads and close more deals. Remember this though, great software programs exist for this very reas...

Social Lead Generation 101

Image
What happens when the old ways of finding new revenue sources are no longer working?     Easy, tap into the channel of Social Lead Generation ...   Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed that there’s been a shift in how people (and buyers) want to communicate. When it comes to business, gone are the days of frequent or impromptu in-person meetings. We've said good-bye to the times when you could make an unplanned call and expect someone to answer (we have smart phones to thank for that). Very soon, we’ll start to see the decline of business emails. The email has been dying for a while, but it’s been on a very slow road down. Kind of like the floppy disk, it seems like it’s lived forever! Email’s problem is that people are now starting to realize the fact that more than half of their daily inbox is from businesses trying to sell. The emails aren’t personalized (a first name doesn’t count!) and a lot of them are “cold” in that they’r...
